A natural red snowflake obsidian gemstone is accented with a handcrafted sterling silver bail in this unique, one-of-a-kind necklace. The stone has a black base with a sprinkling of pink "snowflake" inclusions. Although this stone is called "red snowflake obsidian" the inclusions are more of a pinkish color. It contains the mineral cristobalite - which creates the "snowflake" type patterns.
MEASUREMENTS: Pendant measures approx. 1-7/8" in length and 2" at widest point. I created a sterling silver bail to surround the stone; then wrapped it securely with abstract twists of sterling silver wire. The metal was lightly hammered and stamped for texture; then oxidized to enhance the detail. It's signed on the back with my initials and sterling stamp and comes on a 20" stainless steel chain with lobster claw closure.
